We are in week two of our second annual fundraiser for #SaveChicagoMedia. You can read it all and donate now at website for the Chicago Independent Media Alliance (CIMA).
Third Coast Review is one of 43 independent Chicago-area media outlets joining forces to raise funds during a month-long campaign that runs through June 11. Both profit and nonprofit organizations represent a wide range of community media in the city and neighboring suburbs. You can follow Chicago Music Guide or listen to queer and indie music on E3 radio—Or encourage surveys on Injustice watch and Invisible Institute—or you can look forward to reading about your own community in Skyline, Inside Booster or other Internal publications. We hope you look forward to the movie and video game reviews in Third Coast Review. Whatever your tastes, Chicago’s independent media have your needs for news and commentary. And we all need your help. You can find information about the 43 on our website.
Many local media have suffered serious losses during the pandemic and the need is even greater than last year when we organized our first fundraising campaign. Last year, more than 1,000 people donated, with two-thirds choosing to support all outlets. media voice.
You can give to any of us or to all of us at savechicagomedia.org. The website offers the option to donate an amount to be distributed evenly among all outlets, or you can select one or more outlets to donate a specific amount. For example, you can donate $ 43 and we will each receive $ 1. Or you can donate $ 43 to your four favorites and we’ll each receive $ 10.75. Donate a few dollars or donate a chunk of dollars – whatever works for you.
The campaign was organized and coordinated by CIMA, a project launched in 2019 by the Chicago Reader. Our 68 alliance partners include traditional print newspapers, independently produced podcasts, vibrant video production studios and nonprofit newsrooms focused on key issues that affect the fabric of the city. CIMA coordinates income projects to help strengthen the local media landscape.
Check out our 1-minute animated campaign video below, also available in Spanish, Polish, and Arab by several members of the alliance.
