news editor

β€’ Supervise the editorial department composed of nearly a dozen editors and freelancers as well as coordination with contributors to editorials.
β€’ Assign daily newscasts, stories and reports on Middle Eastern and Jewish topics.
β€’ Coordinate with writers on assignment topics, story expectations, story length and due date. Help writers conduct interviews and/or contact PR firms or partner firms.
β€’ Receive stories from writers, perform first review, edit content and grammar as needed, and file for copy editing.
β€’ In conjunction with the Editor-in-Chief, provide feedback to the Editor on the story as required.
β€’ Publish the story to the website, including final review of the story for any content or grammar issues.
β€’ Design story layout including title, subtitle and images. Tag relevant topics. Publish and place on the home page of the site.
β€’ Monitor daily news and breaking news as well as oversee the development of the editorial calendar for seasonal content and long-term stories.
● Develop and write larger stories, including interviews with experts and analysts in the field.
● Maintained and advanced relationships with a portfolio of publishers of over 50 client publications as well as dozens of public relations firms and Jewish organizations.
● Compiled and distributed the daily newsletter (the old and the new Daily Syndicate).
● Updated the Press+ page with the best articles and featured sections, sent the Press+ newsletter to subscribers.
● Maintain and update website and occasional social media posts throughout the day.

copy editor

β€’ Fully proofread and edit an ongoing amount of op-ed submissions, review/news/reportage articles, press releases, podcasts/videos/related articles, and aggregated content in a timely manner.
β€’ Screen opinion submissions for acceptability and originality.
β€’ Fact checking, source checking and plagiarism checking as required by each story.
β€’ Publish edited opinion articles to JNS.org CMS system (WordPress), including all related functions: adding/tagging authors to system with bio and headshot; find accompanying photos from authoritative and/or authorized sources; use topics/tags; links to recent and relevant JNS news in articles; liaise with submitting authors and send article URL immediately after publication.
β€’ Help recruit high-quality authors to submit original opinion pieces through JNS.
β€’ Report to multiple supervisors, including the Jerusalem Bureau Chief (submissions), the Editor-in-Chief (style), and the Editor-in-Chief (final word on editorial decisions).
β€’ Works closely with the Jerusalem Office News Desk Editor.
β€’ Submit one original opinion piece per week.
β€’ Occasionally submit online JNS newsletters if requested.
β€’ Participate in editorial meetings.
β€’ Publish published articles on various JNS social media channels.
β€’ Provide redundancy capability for the Jerusalem Bureau Editor or US Opinion Editor as required.

Editor qualifications/skills:
β€’ Solid editorial experience and proofreading skills
β€’ Experience adhering to editorial and technical style guides
β€’ Strong oral and written communication
β€’ Comfortable with frequent contact between functions and senior management

Education, experience and licensing requirements:
β€’ 5+ years of demonstrated excellence in content creation or editing, including online publishing
β€’ Experience with WordPress, Mailchimp and related content management tools

Editor / Reporter

β€’ Write news briefs
β€’ Write comprehensive news and analysis with at least 2 citations from original sources
β€’ Cover update office shifts

Digital Marketing Associate

The Digital Marketing Associate will report directly to the Director of Marketing.

β€’ Contribute to and execute a results-driven marketing and social media strategy
β€’ Execute all digital marketing including SEO and PPC campaigns
β€’ Design, build and maintain our presence on social networks
β€’ Measure and report performance of all digital marketing campaigns, and evaluate against KPI targets
β€’ Maintain a unified brand voice across various social media channels
β€’ Monitor digital marketing and social media channels for industry trends
β€’ Brainstorm creative new growth strategies
β€’ Engage with users and respond to social media posts, requests and comments.
β€’ Collaborate with internal teams to create landing pages and optimize user experience on social networks

Qualifications/Skills Coordinator:

β€’ Passion for social media and mastery of major social media platforms and social media management tools
β€’ Proficiency with video and photo editing tools, Canva, digital media formats and HTML an asset

β€’ Ability to understand historical, current and future trends in the digital content and social media space
β€’ Strong writing and editing skills
β€’ Excellent oral and verbal communication skills
β€’ Impeccable time management skills with the ability to multi-task
β€’ Detail-oriented approach with ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines Training and experience

Terms:
β€’ Degree in a relevant field, an advantage
β€’ 3 years of experience in B2C digital marketing and social media
β€’ Direct experience with social media management tools (Hootsuite, Sprinklr) an advantage
β€’ Experience with targeted Google Ads, Facebook Ads and third-party ad platforms
β€’ Experience with digital media editing tools an asset
