A young entrepreneur who swapped her UK office job for a Brazilian beach now runs her own £ 28,000-a-month business.

This courageous move also led her to find the love of her life in the process.

Georgia Austin says she didn’t know how to launch her career after leaving college. Instead, she spent time working as a rental negotiator, PA, and writer for Sweaty Betty.

The 23-year-old from Buckinghamshire has also worked as a freelance providing LinkedIn outreach services for brands based in America.

But Brazil really had a place in Georgia’s heart – having fallen in love while she was researching her thesis.

So in December 2019, she decided to go it alone and settle in Rio de Janeiro.

Georgia said: “ I knew that if I was going to be independent I would have to do it in a sunny and warm place, I had friends and I could continue to learn a new language.

“Rio couldn’t be more perfect.

‘Everyone was very supportive and happy for me – although my mom wondered if I would ever be home.

“ So I handed over my review to work and applied for a visa, which took a few months and arrived 10 days before my flight. It was quite the last minute.

Georgia landed in Rio on February 6, 2020 – just as people were starting to talk about Covid.

But street parties and parades were always very organized, and at a carnival party Georgia met her husband, Felippe Lavogade.

She added: ‘Neither of us wanted to go to this party – we had both wanted to be at different parties – but we had been persuaded by our friends. ”

The two hit it off and by April 2020 they had moved into a shared house together – just around the time of the lockdown.

Meanwhile, Georgia jumped into her job, profiling herself on Fiverr – a marketplace for freelancers – and was busy creating website content for brands.

It was then that she realized her talent not only for content creation, but also for networking.

Her entrepreneurial instinct quickly led her to launch her own writing agency, Wizard of Content, in February 2021.

Now she has 10 employees working for her and making £ 28,000 a month – and hopes to make her first million by the end of the year.

She said: ‘As a freelance writer I wanted to support other people who work for themselves and now employ people all over the world – from the US to the UK to the Philippines.

“ I find myself in constant need of hiring more people and the business is growing and growing.

“I have writers who work for me full time, but others who do a few plays a week.

But it’s not just her professional life that has been busy.

Georgia married Felippe on May 13 in a small private ceremony, and the couple are now settled in a beachfront apartment.

She said: ‘Felippe was only able to meet my family on FaceTime.

“ We got married just to me and him and two witnesses – but we’re saving our big party so everyone can travel again.

“ We expect it to be in November next year in Brazil or the UK and hopefully we will have more of my business growth to celebrate by then as well. ”

Georgia is now looking to the future, but is proud of how far it has come.

She said: ‘I’m as surprised as anyone how well everything has turned out. There were stressful days, but it was worth it in the end.

“I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit and it feels natural to me every step of the way.

“I can’t wait to see the agency grow. I want to see my business explode.
