Sony Interactive Entertainment appears to be preparing Gran Turismo 7 for beta testing on PlayStation 5 in the coming days.
While an official announcement remains pending at the time of writing, a PlayStation Experience promotional campaign has been spotted (via GTPlanet) earlier today to invite players to participate in an upcoming Gran Turismo 7 beta test.
All players have to do is head to the Discover the PlayStation page on the official PlayStation website, select Start Quest, then Associated Campaigns before choosing Italia Quest. The Gran Turismo 7 beta test will appear as one of the four options. Next, players only need to watch the original Gran Turismo 7 launch trailer to unlock a first beta code for PlayStation 5.
Several players have already received their codes but they could just as easily be reserved spaces. There is also no way to redeem the codes and therefore this explains why the Experience PlayStation promotional campaign may have been released for the backend developers rather than the public. It does suggest, however, that Sony is announcing a beta test of Gran Turismo 7 soon enough.
Note that Gran Turismo 7 was originally supposed to be exclusive to PlayStation 5, but it was recently hinted that it would also land on PlayStation 4. The intergenerational version was not suitable for gamers due to concerns about limitations. previous generation hardware for console parity.
Upcoming beta testing for the PlayStation 5 only should not be taken as confirmation of the removal of the previous generation version. Sony may just be limiting its first beta test to its new console.
Gran Turismo 7 was delayed somewhere in 2022 because developer Polyphony Digital needed more development time to recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. God of War: Ragnarok, while slated for a 2021 release window, has also been hinted that it will also be delayed somewhere in 2022.
