Library Assistant I (full time) | Employment

We are looking for a flexible, reliable and organized person to join the Columbia County Rural Library District for the position of Library Assistant I. Current opening is for a full time position (38-40 hours / week) at the Columbia District Rural Library in Dayton, WA.

Our ideal candidate

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a great sense of humor, friendly customer service skills, attention to detail, and strong written and verbal communication skills. Library assistants are expected to provide excellent customer service, manage traffic and financial transactions, communicate policies, resolve account issues in a positive manner, answer general questions, troubleshoot equipment, and assist with circulation of items. library documents. A strong customer service attitude, verbal communication, a passion for reading and computer skills are essential in our ideal candidate.

Minimum qualifications

High school diploma, GED or equivalent. Six months customer service experience. Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Internet, including email, database searches and web searches. Ability to communicate effectively in English. Current driver’s license and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

Previous library experience. Experience with Koha ILS. Knowledge of website design and maintenance. Knowledge of social media. Comfortable working with clients of all ages.
