Robert Brandon Walker died on May 17 at his home in San Clemente, California, at the age of 38.
Brandon is the son of Reverend Robert and Donna Walker of Darien. His identical twin brother, Matthew, passed away on April 13, and Brandon was deeply moved by this great loss.
Brandon was born on March 20, 1983 in Dallas. In 1984, the Walker family moved to Darien. He graduated from Darien High School in 2001 and obtained a BA in Professional and Technical Writing from the University of Hartford in 2005.
Brandon loved computer programming and called himself “the Webmaster”. In Hartford, he developed a program to allow blind students to browse the university’s website.
After graduating from the University of Hartford, Brandon worked for FactSet Inc., a Norwalk-based financial data company. He moved to Southern California in 2010 and worked for Ocean Hills Recovery Inc., in San Juan Capistrano. He was grateful for his 10+ years of sobriety.
In 2017, he helped his brother start 2Brosandatruck LLC, a moving company based in East Haven. Brandon developed the company’s website and online marketing. Two years ago, he founded Local SEO Surge, a company specializing in website design and search engine optimization. Customers included restaurants, vacation rental companies, rehabilitation facilities, and moving companies.
Brandon loved being outdoors, especially hiking and walking the beautiful beaches in Southern California. Crystal Cove beach was his favorite. He had a big smile, a dry sense of humor and a huge heart.
In March 2020, at the start of the pandemic, he set up a GoFundMe page for employees at San Clemente grocery stores. Intense workouts at the gym were part of her daily routine.
When gyms closed due to Covid, he developed ‘aisle workouts’ and posted videos on Instagram to encourage others to stay fit. His Christian faith and his church were of vital importance to him.
Brandon is survived by his grandmothers: Eileen P. Walker of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Evelyn S. Henry of Atlanta; her aunts and uncles: Reverend Patricia Walker of Tulsa; Margaret and Brian Allen of Roanoke, Virginia; Millie and Jim Downs from Milledgeville, Georgia. He also has many first cousins and loving cousins.
His grandfathers, Robert L. Walker and Robert E. Henry, his uncle, Robert E. Henry, Jr. and his aunt, Helen E. Spence, predeceased him.
A celebration of Brandon’s life and faith will take place at 11 a.m. EST on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien. The service will be broadcast live on the United Methodist Church of New Canaan Facebook page. Here is the link for the service.
A celebration of Brandon’s life on the West Coast will also take place on June 5 at 3 p.m. PT at Doheny State Beach in Dana Point, California.
