Rumor: the first public beta of iOS 15.2 and iPadOS 15.2 are now available

A day after delivering the beta versions to developers, Apple today released the first public beta versions of the impending versions of iOS 15.2 and iPadOS 15.2.

The App Privacy Report is a new feature in iOS and iPadOS 15.2 that allows users to see how often apps have accessed sensitive information including location, pictures, camera, microphone and contacts during the previous seven days.

After installing the required certificate from the Public Beta website, public beta testers who have signed up for Apple’s beta testing program can receive iOS and iPadOS 15.1 upgrades over the air.

It’s also set to show which apps have contacted other domains and how long it has been since they contacted them so you can keep tabs on what apps are doing behind the scenes.

Today’s update adds updates to the SOS Emergency Auto Call feature. You can now quickly press the side button multiple times to launch, or hold down the side button and volume button simultaneously. There is an eight-second longer countdown before a call is placed, which is longer than the previous three-second countdown.

The app privacy report is available by opening the Settings app, selecting the Privacy section and choosing App privacy report. From there you can activate it. After using apps for a while, data will start showing there.

Apple also tweaked the notification summary feature in the beta, making the summaries look more like a map, and there is code for the communications security feature that Apple announced earlier this year. For more details on all the new in the beta, be sure to check out our feature article.
