MARKETING / SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER

JOB DESCRIPTION

Hours: Part time. 24h. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays. 9am-5pm.

Location: 5a Union Street, Brunswick.

Purpose of the position

This is a dynamic and versatile position in a fast-paced hospitality and live music group, including Laundry Bar, Bad Decisions Bar and George’s Bar, all located on Johnston Street, Fitzroy. The role of Marketing and Social Media Manager is to manage all social media accounts for all three companies from planning to execution, as well as additional online and offline marketing channels, as well as additional duties as required to support the rest of the team as needed, if necessary.

Responsibilities and Duties

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an ongoing and in-depth understanding of the three bars and their respective cultures, voices and brand values, liaising with office staff and venue managers, as well as your own ongoing personal research and information on the digital marketing trends and concepts.

  • Manage social media accounts for all three sites. This will include content planning, creation and scheduling. We have Facebook and Instagram accounts for all three sites, plus additional accounts such as TikTok, Twitter, etc. that you are welcome to use, similarly, you are welcome to create new channels that you deem relevant to the goals and growth of any of the brands.

  • Manage the largest online presence for all sites. This includes:

    • Websites (keep content updated)

    • Email marketing – designing and implementing GEDs.

    • Google Business listings, including updating trading hours as needed and uploading new photos regularly.

    • Analyze press/media sites/third party site listings to ensure representation of our sites remains up to date.

    • Assist the Reservations Manager in taking care of our Oztix account for all paid events. Creating/updating listings, sending promotional EDMs to the database.

  • Liaise with weekend photographers, triage and organize their submissions weekly, identify issues if they arise (speed/quality/quantity).

  • Work closely with our Reservations Manager to ensure you are on all upcoming concerts and events for all venues. Ensure artwork and promotional assets are complete and shared with all relevant parties, ensure every event is live online on all social channels, ticketing channels.

  • Work closely with the office team and venue managers to ensure you stay current, discuss areas that need attention, retargeting or refocusing in terms of ticket sales conversion, attendance or behavior client.

  • Compose/generate/edit any necessary copy for press/media, events, brand statements, applications, internal documentation as required for all three sites.

Secondary responsibilities

  • Keep a close eye on trends relevant to all three locations, to help the team come up with new ideas for internally managed events, branding or promotional campaigns.

  • Help the rest of the office with any tasks they might need extra help with. The office team is small. Communication is essential.

  • Maintain relationships with venue managers and regular event hosts, to assess, review and revise marketing approaches as necessary.

  • Constantly brainstorm new ideas to bring to the team, be it branding, campaign ideas, event themes, collaboration ideas.

  • Likewise, all public relations opportunities. Stay across the demographics of all locations and have the ability to react quickly to any opportunities that may arise to reach them in a

PR space.

Tertiary responsibilities – CHART

  • Conceive, design, create and implement promotional artwork for all internal events and organize external events as needed.

  • Generate menu updates as needed by room managers

  • Conceive, design, create and implement internal promotional material for all brands. This includes, but is not limited to:

    • Social media thumbnails to show announcements, promotions, trading hours, etc.

    • Signage or decals on site.

    • Brand building creative content.

    • Gif/Video content to be projected on the large video screens on both levels of the Laundry.

    • Branded giphy stickers (for Instagram stories)

  • Conceive, design, create and implement any additional graphic work that should be required as directed or requested by the rest of the team.

  • Manage relationship with external printing service for large scale street poster runs as required.

  • Basic photo editing if needed.

  • Design of branded products.

Experience / Knowledge

  • The successful candidate must have experience in a similar role for at least 2 years.

  • You need to have a deep understanding of all three brands and their very different and specific demographics, voices, and aesthetics.

  • You must be able to work quickly, act quickly and multi-task.

  • You must be excellent in self-management and at the same time, in time management.

  • Have excellent communication skills and keep the lines open with your teammates, to share and collaborate on ideas, ask for advice, feedback or help.

  • Have the initiative and awareness to offer and provide assistance to other team members.

  • You must be creative, confident and collaborative, with an eye for design and an openness to share/rework/workshop with the rest of the team.

  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to embody the voice and values ​​of each brand through your words on social media and beyond.

  • You must have the ability to keep the aesthetics and voices of our brands separate from each other, and have the ability to quickly switch between them.

  • You must be an energetic and enthusiastic team player, believe in our brands and culture, and be willing to go above and beyond for them.

Abilities

  • Deep and in-depth knowledge of Instagram, Facebook including troubleshooting.

  • Proficiency in the Adobe suite of creative tools. Photoshop & Illustrator imperative, video and photo editing tools a big plus.

  • Strong understanding of print-ready and digital graphics specifications.

  • Google Suite (gmail/docs/drive/sheets)

  • Microsoft Excel + Word / Pages + Numbers on Mac.

  • WordPress / Wix (for website management)
